A Dog Named Miles

Loving Miles has been so easy for our family.  Having this little boy has brought us so much joy. It is still hard for some of us to believe that we actually have a retriever again after not having one for so long. I cannot imagine the rest of my life without at least one, but preferably two (or even three!).

Miles is a little rascal at times, as all little boys (and girls) are, but this is outweighed by how sweet, smart, and cuddly he is. He appears to love everyone pretty equally (which has not been our experience with Max where I would say that I am his clear favorite with Sarah being a very close second). He definitely needs his exercise or else he becomes a terror, which isn't the worst thing in the world for us as it gets us outside exercising regularly too.

I am so glad that Santa brought Miles to us on Christmas morning. He has been the best gift yet.

A black and white photo of little boy Miles standing on his hind legs looking out of my bedroom window being a Karen.
"Karen" working hard to get the neighborhood scoop.

Little itty bitty baby Miles asleep snuggling up to the end of the couch near where his food bowls are. His head is sticking out into the empty space between the living room and the kitchen.

Big boy Miles sitting on the couch in the garage with Dad giving dad a kiss on the cheek while Dad looks full on at the camera.
Garage hangs with the boys.

Big boy Miles soaking wet from head to foot standing on top of a picnic table after hiking and swimming with Dad at Latta Nature Preserve the weekend we went to Ohio for Easter.

Baby Miles getting his first snuggles with Maxi up against the living room couch.
First snuggles with Max.

Itty bitty baby Miles looking into the camera while laying on the couch. His head is laying flat in between his front legs.

Medium Miles sleeping on the living room floor while snuggling with Josh's soccer bag.

Baby Miles sleeping with his head resting on his front paw in front of the right living room window.

Itty bitty baby Miles snoozing soundly on the black blanket on the couch in the living room. His fuzzy little hair is sticking out all over his body.
I could just eat him up.

Newborn Miles sleeping in Elizabeth's arms on the couch. He is so little that his face still has extra skin just hanging on his face. His little eyelashes are so cute on that baby face.

Baby Miles jumping up to try and get Maxi's face. Maxi is standing up as well, most likely thinking "what the hell is going on?".
Miles trying to play with Maxi. Eventually, Miles wore Max down, and now they play pretty regularly.

Miles standing on his tip toes (which tells you how little he was) trying to bit Max's jawline as Max holds his face up.

Baby Miles sleeping on the couch with Josh. Miles is cuddled up between Josh's arm and his neck resting on some pillows.
He's everybody's sleeping buddy.

Little boy Miles sitting in the front seat of Polly on Elizabeth's lap gripping her shoulders while looking into the back seat of the car.
Grocery runs.

Itty bitty Miles laying down in the corner of my bedroom where my two windows meet with Dad laying down on the Miles dog bed just chillin' with the puppy.

Little boy Miles sitting on the couch giving me the side eye while caught mid lick (he was licking his nose)

Little boy Miles laying on the couch next to me giving me the hairy eyebrow for taking so many pictures of him.

Little boy Miles sitting on the couch looking down at something on the floor. His ears are floppy.

Little boy Miles sound asleep in Elizabeth's lap on the couch. She is sitting cross legged and he is curled up in her lap. He has a blanket resting over him as well.

lB/*p-pig boys Miles sitting on the living room floor with his back up against the couch. He is facing away from the camera with his left ear flopped over resting on top of his head.

A view of baby Miles head in the rear view mirror of the car looking out into the parking lot of the Walmart.

Not little boy, but not big boy Miles sleeping on one of his toys. His head is resting on his extended front paw.

Big boys Miles caught red-handed on his dog bed with a roll of toilet paper going from my bathroom all the way to his bed where he is chewing on the end.
Such a rascal.

Big boy Miles sitting by the sliding glass door waiting to be let outside stairing at the camera with his head cocked to the left.

A head shot of big boy Miles laying on my bed with his tongue handing out of his mouth.

Big boy Miles staring straight into the camera while laying down on my bed without his tongue hanging out of his mouth.

Big boy Miles laying on his back on my bed sound asleep completely exposing his belly and his jewels.
Somebody's got a super hard life....

A close-up of big boy Miles asleep in my bed this time just focusing on his head which is turned to one side.

Little boy Miles asleep up against the side of the living room couch.

A different day, a different close up of big boy Miles and his head asleep in my bed.

Big boys Miles on the couch front paws hanging off of it, tongue out, staring at the TV.

Big boy Miles in dad's arms. He is facing away from the camera as dad is holding him like a little baby. Miles has just been scared by a loud noise outside.
A scary sound in the neighborhood made Miles feel the need to be held by Bobby.

Dad turned around facing away from the camera with Miles resting his head on dad's shoulder looking at the camera. One paw is on either side of dad's head holding on to dad.

Big boy Miles hearing a second scary sound jumped into my lap while I was sitting on the back patio. He is clearly not a lap dog as he takes up my whole lap and then some...
Another scary sound. Clearly, Miles does not realize that he is no longer lap-dog size.

A selfie of me and dad in the backyard on the patio with Miles in my lap as I am sitting down in a chair (dad is standing behind me). Miles is licking my face.
"Thanks for saving me, Mom."

A very, very muddy big boy Miles sitting in the backyard drying off.
Someone found some mud to play in at the undeveloped part of our neighborhood.

Big boy Miles curled up on my comforter sound asleep.
This dog was not supposed to be in our bed, but as you can see by the numerous bed shots, this rule clearly did not stick.

Big boy Miles snuggling next to me in my bed. His head is laying on dad's pillow as he snuggles up right next to me with his front paw outstretched and laying on me. His extra face skin is all bunched up.
Morning snuggles.

Big boy Miles trying to fall asleep on the couch.
Miles wasn't supposed to be allowed on the couch. Then he wasn't supposed to be allowed on the couch unless he was laying on top of a blanket...

Dad sitting on the stone wall on that one hike we did. Dad is wearing Andy's winter coat and his hat backwards. He is watching Miles as he comes running from around the corner. His ears are flopping in the wind as he runs.
Walks in the woods.
