Elizabeth's Fall Soccer Season 2022

Elizabeth's soccer season did not go as she had hoped for. The girls are supposed to have 8 games per season plus one practice a week and a tournament at the end of the season. This is a recreational team, so there is not much more to it than that, but the weather this fall and the fact that a good portion of the girls cannot make it to the weekend games due to other commitments meant that a lot of her games were cancelled. She ended up playing in 4 games (including one tournament game) mostly because of cancellations, but also because she could not make two games. The team ended up having 6 games when they should have played in 11+ (including the tournament games).

Elizabeth is in a bit of a hard spot because she really loves to play soccer and takes her practices and games seriously. Not all of the girls do. It frustrates her, but I do not think she is committed enough to play club soccer. She has been inquiring about it though, so we'll see after this spring season what that might look like for her. Transitioning to club after this season would be ideal because her current coach is done after this spring session as his daughter is graduating from high school. We are thankful she has her current coach for the entire time she has been playing soccer in North Carolina as he is a great coach and has the perfect personality for a recreational team. He is not a screamer and does a great job explaining things to the girls.

We are hoping spring soccer goes a little bit better in terms of the number of games played and practices had.

Overall, Elizabeth had a solid season personally. She seems to improve a little bit more each season and I have enjoyed watching her progress. I have also loved the fact that Bobby helps to coach her soccer team. I give him mad props for helping out when he knew nothing about soccer to begin with except what he learned from being a spectator.  I am glad that they have this to do together.
