Today is Sammy's birthday. At least it is the day we celebrate as his birthday because it is the day we adopted him from a local rescue organization. No one knows exactly how old Sammy is or when his actual birthday is. That is the fate of most rescue animals.
Often people will comment to us when they find out that Sammy was a rescue dog how lucky he is to have us in his life now. I would like to think that he feels this way, but really it truly is we who are lucky to have him. He has such a gentle quiet spirit about him. It has been a joy to watch him blossom from this shy timid creature to this silly crazy dog. We could not imagine life without him. I cannot imagine a sweeter more gentle creature than Sam.
I do not know what his previous life was like, but I do know that his future is looking good. With 4 kids who coddle him and love on him and Bob and I who dote on him I do not doubt that he has finally found the good life that all animals search for. He will be loved and cared for by our family all the rest of his days. Happy Birthday, Samuel Jennings!

The first day when we brought him home. |

Look at how timid he looks! |
|
He looks so unsure and uncertain. |

Now look at him! |

Life - as it should be. |
