This was taken the day Josh left for Texas. |
Before I walk away from this blog, I wanted to let write one more post on the kids (who are no longer kids, but adults now). I have been thinking about stepping away from this space for a long while as my kids are no longer children, and their stories are now theirs to share. I do plan on beginning another blog that focuses on other aspects of my life, but I am not 100% sure what that will look like yet. I'll be sure to share that when the time comes.
For now, I will leave you with this:
Andy is 25. He has finally found his niche in life and is almost finished earning his airplane mechanic certification. He will be graduating in May 2026 and plans to move wherever his job may take him. He is hoping to eventually work on airplanes overseas.
Josh is 23. In May 2025 he graduated from Belmont Abbey College with a degree in Elementary Education. Josh just moved to Austin, Texas in August to teach 7/8 math to middle school students. He is teaching in an inner-city school and is dealing with all that comes with that. He loves living in Austin but sees it more as a 'for now' situation instead of a 'for always' one.
Sarah is just about to be 21. Sarah is a junior at University of North Carolina - Greensboro. She is an honors student and is majoring in social work. She is most likely going to stay at UNCG to complete her master's degree in social work and is planning on using her degree to be a public-school guidance counselor. She lives independently on campus with her service-dog Heron. She is also in the process of joining a sorority. She is flourishing and doing amazing.
Elizabeth is now 19. She graduated from homeschooling in May 2025 and has been working full-time at Panera Bread. She is not sure that she wants to go to college and is looking into culinary school instead. She is also thinking of using her savings to travel. She will figure out her path in her own time, and we are of no opinion what path she should choose. As with all of the kids, we just want her to know that she is never stuck going down one path, she can always change courses. There are always options, and there is no set way to live a life. Everyone must choose her own unique path.
I very much look forward to seeing where life takes these four precious kiddos of mine. They are such amazing humans that the sky is the limit for them all. I am proud to be their mama.
Thank you all for coming along on this journey these last 12+ years. I appreciate your thoughts and comments and support as we have lived out our ups and downs and shared those times in this space. I look forward to seeing you in my new space when that comes to fruition. (Hopefully, sooner rather than later as I really enjoy writing.)
And as they say - that's a wrap!
