A Day At The Beach

The kids and I spent the day at Cannon Beach. Even though the water is extremely cold and you can only go in for a moment and the wind seems to never die down there is something that draws us all back there time and time again. We have figured out ways in which to beat the wind and the water temps even if it is just for a few hours. We spent about 6 hours at the beach today. Although we have been here before we didn't want to go to a new beach without Bob, so we picked some place we have been that is easily accessible. (This beach is about 75 minutes from our house.)

One of the nicest things about moving around is that for a short time no one knows you are there. There are no commitments such as soccer or gymnastics. No homeschooling things to do. No pull of outside friends. It is just us. I treasure this time as I know that sooner or later everyone will fall into somewhat of a normal routine with commitments and I will miss this time together just the 5 or 6 of us (depending on the day of the week). My kids are bonding every day. Doing things together and making memories. There is nothing better.

By this time in the day Sammy had had it. He dug himself a hole behind my chair and laid in his hole in the shadow.

I love that Sarah plays soccer with the kids. She cannot see the ball, but the kids to pass to her anyway and give her directions as to where she can pass it to.
