Belmont Abbey Soccer - Spring 2022 - Games 1 & 2

Games 1 & 2:

Belmont Abbey played its competitor (I don't even know who they were to be honest) at Saturday's matches in back-to-back games. They played 35-minute halves with only an approximately 10-minute break in-between games.

Josh played the entire first game and then all of the first half of the second game. We had to leave to go to Elizabeth's game at half-time of the second game, so we did not get to watch it, but Joshua later told me that he was pulled about 10 minutes into the second half of the second game to allow some of the other boys a chance to play.

Our boys lost both games. The first game was a bit more reasonable than the second as we lost 2-0 in the first game and 5-0 in the second game. I could definitely tell a difference in skill as a lot of bench players received play time in the second game leaving in only a few of the starters (such as Josh) to help support them.

It was so good to see Josh on the field. He played lights out. Gosh, I love watching this kid play soccer. He just sees the game so well. What he lacks in speed and bulk he makes up ten-fold in game smarts.

It has been a little while since I have been able to see him play in person, and man, was it awesome. I know that as his mother I probably tend to see him through rose colored glasses (isn't that how all mothers see their children?), but he was hands down the best player on that field yesterday. He is just a talented, talented kiddo and I am so humbled that I get to be his mom and get to watch his passion for the sport unfold on the field.

Josh getting ready for the ball to come his way. His knees are bent and he has one leg in front of the other.

Josh colliding with another player as they both go for the ball.

Josh by his goal at the back of a crowd of players watching a play unfold towards the sideline.

I don't really know what is happening in this pic. There are two players from each team and the ball. Josh is in the air with the ball behind him. I don't know if he got the ball or not.

Josh dribbling the ball with an opposing player coming up quickly to try and steal it from him.

i'm not sure what is happening in this picture either. there are a group of boys standing around on the field. one belmont player looks like he is pushing off of another belmont play, but the ball is no where to be found.

Josh walking on the field. The play in happening out of the frame at the other end of the field.

Josh getting ready to get the ball. There are three players in this picture - two belmont abbey boys - one being your brother and one player from the other team.

Just Josh in this frame - play must be at the other end of the field.
